Shopify Point of Sale (POS) UI Extensions

On February 28th, 2025 Shopify is deprecating legacy POS app links. In order to continue using POS, please migrate to the new POS UI Extensions. The new POS UI Extensions allow for a more integrated survey experience on Shopify POS .

Targeting Fairing Question to POS

For Fairing survey questions to show in your POS app, you must have at least one question surface targeted to POS. To set a question to ask on POS Extensions, select "Shopify Point of Sale" under the "Ask on These Surfaces" section when editing a question in your Fairing app.

Questions can be set to be asked on POS, Shopify Checkout, or both POS and Shopify Checkout.

Activate Fairing POS UI Extensions

Once you have set up Point of Sale in Shopify, installed the Fairing app, and set a question surface to Shopify Point of Sale, you will have to activate the Fairing app. To activate the Fairing POS Extensions, follow these steps in your Shopify Admin.

  1. Click Sales ChannelsPoint of Sale
  2. Click SettingsPOS Apps
  1. Click on the Fairing App
  2. In the Smart Gridsection, click Add

Using POS UI Extensions

Once you have activated the extension in Shopify, the new Fairing app block will be available in your POS app. Follow these steps in your POS app to add the Fairing tile to your home screen.

  1. Click Add Tile
  2. Click App
  3. Select Fairing Data Post Purchase Survey
  4. Click Save

Recording a Survey Response on POS

Once the extension has been added to your POS app you can begin to collect customer responses. Responses can be added directly by clicking on the app block, or after a purchase has been completed. A customer email is needed to add a response.
